Frequently asked questions

What is PrayerBoard?

PrayerBoard is a free iPhone and iPad app for praying with a few close friends and family. You share prayer requests in a small private circle, your friends pray for you with a tap or a short note, and you can mark a prayer answered and celebrate it together.

Is PrayerBoard free? Are there ads?

Yes, it's free, and there are no ads and no in-app purchases. We don't track you or sell your data.

Who can see my prayer requests?

Only the people in the circle you share with. Circles are private and invite-only, and there's no public feed or way for strangers to find you.

Can I ask for prayer without sharing the details?

Yes. Make the request private, and your circle sees that you asked for prayer while only you see the words. It's a good fit when the story isn't yours to tell.

Do my friends need to download the app?

Yes, for now everyone in a circle uses the free PrayerBoard app on iPhone or iPad. When you send an invite as a link or in Messages, it takes them straight to the App Store and then into your circle.

How do I invite friends or family to pray with me?

Create a circle, then share its invite from the app as a link, a text or a card in Messages. Anyone with the invite can join, and the person who made the circle can remove members anytime.

Does PrayerBoard work in iMessage?

Yes. PrayerBoard in Messages lets you share a prayer request or a circle invite as a card right in your conversation. Open a chat, tap +, then choose PrayerBoard.

Can I see who prayed for me?

Yes. You get a notification like "Sarah prayed for you", and each request shows who prayed and any notes they left. Hearing that someone actually prayed is the heart of the app.

How do I mark a prayer as answered and share the good news?

Open your request and mark it answered, with a few words about what happened. Your circle gets to celebrate with you, and you can share the story as a card.

What's a prayer partner check-in?

It's a weekly "How can I pray for you this week?" between two prayer partners, and it's coming in an update. Today you can start a circle with just the two of you and set a daily reminder to pray.

Does PrayerBoard write prayers for me with AI?

No. PrayerBoard never writes your prayers for you. You pray in your own words, or with a tap when words don't come.

Is PrayerBoard for a specific denomination?

No. PrayerBoard is a simple tool for Christians of any church or tradition who want to pray for each other. There's no built-in teaching or content to agree with.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. PrayerBoard is on iPhone and iPad today, and we'll share news about Android on this site when there is some.

How is PrayerBoard different from Echo, PrayerMate, YouVersion or Pray.com?

Those apps are great at personal prayer lists, guided content or a big community. PrayerBoard does one thing: helping a few close people pray for each other privately, for free, with no ads. Our comparison page goes into detail.

Is PrayerBoard good for small groups or a church prayer chain?

It's a great fit for a small group, a family or a ministry team, with up to 30 people in a circle. For a whole church or a public prayer wall, our web prayer boards for churches and creators are the better tool.
