A short morning prayer

Prayer for anxiety

A prayer for mornings when worry starts before you're out of bed.

Prayer · 1 min

When I'm anxious

Father, my mind started running before my feet hit the floor. I'm already rehearsing conversations that haven't happened.

So here's what's on my chest, plainly. You know the list. I'm handing it to you one thing at a time.

I don't need every answer today. I need enough peace to take the next step without my heart racing.

I think of the people I love who carry worry like a backpack they can't take off. Lift some of the weight from them this morning. Let them breathe a little deeper than yesterday.

When the anxious thoughts come back, and they will, remind me that I already gave them to you.

Guard my heart and my thoughts today. Keep me close enough to hear you. Amen.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV)
