Prayer for a slow day

A prayer for a day when you don't have to rush.

A slow day

Father, today I don't have to rush. Thank you for that.

I'm so used to hurrying that slowing down almost feels wrong. Help me let it feel right.

I want to be still and know that you are God, without filling every quiet minute with something.

I pray for people who never get a slow day: nurses on long shifts, single parents, anyone who can't afford to stop. Give them small pockets of rest, and let them feel cared for in them.

Let me take a walk, read something good, call someone I've been meaning to call.

Restore what the busy weeks have worn down in me, and let me come out of today a little more whole. Amen.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
