A short morning prayer

Prayer to be kind

A prayer to be kinder today, especially when you're stressed and short with people.

Prayer · 1 min

Make me kind

Jesus, you were always kind, even to people who didn't deserve it. I'd like to be more like that.

I can be short with people when I'm stressed. I can be generous in my head and stingy in real life.

Today, help me slow down long enough to actually see the people in front of me.

I pray for someone who could use kindness today, the cashier having a bad shift, the coworker who seems off, the friend who hasn't texted back. Show me who, and show me how.

Let my love be patient and not keep score.

If I get it wrong, help me apologize quickly and try again. I want people to feel a little more loved after being around me. Amen.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (ESV)
